I am an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. I am also affiliated with the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department, the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (BISB) graduate program and the Center for Machine-Integrated Computing and Security (MICS).
My research interests span computer architecture and computational biology. In particular, I am interested in developing algorithms and domain-specific hardware accelerators that enable faster and cheaper progress in biology and medicine. I am also interested in developing novel computational methods that enable biological discoveries, such as new genotype-phenotype relationships.
I am actively looking to hire PhD students, interns, postdocs and current UCSD undergraduate and masters students who have prior experience in one or more of the following research areas:
High-performance computing (HPC)
GPU / FPGA computing
Computational Genomics / Bioinformatics
If you're interested in joining my lab, kindly read this and contact me via email along with your CV and a brief research statement. I only respond to emails that demonstrate familiarity with my work.
